Announcing EURe on Noble

Sep 18, 2024

Noble and Monerium today announced a partnership to bring EURe, the first authorized stablecoin in Europe and most used on-chain Euro-backed stablecoin by transaction volume, to the Cosmos and Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol (IBC) ecosystem. EURe will be available natively on over 90 Cosmos blockchains and the wider IBC ecosystem, representing over $30 billion of market capitalization, using Noble as the on-chain native asset issuance platform.

Monerium is the first Electronic Money Institution (EMI) to become compliant under the EU's Market in Crypto-Asset (MiCA) regulations, having been authorized to issue e-money on blockchains in Europe since 2019. EURe is collateralized by Euro-denominated deposits held in segregated accounts, and has been seamlessly integrated into Europe’s Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) framework, allowing for near instant transfers of Euros between on-chain custody solutions and custodial bank accounts across the EU. So far in 2024, EURe has achieved over €1.0 billion in volume and leads all Euro stablecoin issuers in market share at approximately 50%.

Noble is a purpose-built blockchain for the seamless integration and transfer of native assets to sovereign blockchains, ensuring that stablecoins and other real world assets can flow smoothly and securely between ecosystems. With over $280 million in total assets issued and over $3 billion in IBC transfer volume since launch in September 2023, Noble solves liquidity fragmentation across siloed execution environments and the rollup ecosystem. Noble is the native asset issuer of USDC, USDY and USYC for the Cosmos ecosystem.

Leveraging Noble’s issuance platform, Monerium’s EURe can be seamlessly integrated with all Cosmos and IBC appchains as well as modular rollups, allowing for fast and efficient transactions. Within Monerium’s framework, a user is given a unique IBAN number connected to their self-custodial Noble address that allows seamless and virtually instant transfers between a bank account and the IBC ecosystem. This user experience, delivered by Noble and Monerium, effectively allows a wallet to become a bank account (and vice-versa) and opens up a wide range of uniquely-tailored applications, including for payments, foreign exchange, swapping, etc.

“We are excited to bring the first fully regulated and compliant Euro stablecoin to the IBC ecosystem and the modular world.  A Noble-powered ecosystem starts with developers seamlessly tapping into deep stablecoin and RWA liquidity to build the next generation of applications, from payments to DeFi and beyond. EURe’s native Noble integration is poised to unleash a variety of novel use cases leveraging the unique property of having your wallet be your bank account with virtually instant settlement. We look forward to working with Monerieum on other fiat-backed assets and the prospect of bringing such seamless UX to other jurisdictions.” - Jelena Djuric, founder of Noble

"We are thrilled to partner with Noble to bring EURe to the expansive IBC ecosystem. This collaboration will enable seamless, efficient transactions across multiple blockchains, offering greater flexibility and utility for users. Noble’s robust platform perfectly aligns with our mission to provide secure, regulated onchain fiat solutions, and we are excited about the opportunities this integration will unlock for the IBC community.” - Gísli Kristjánsson, co-founder of Monerium
